Linda Leoussi, during her career as a renowned international
concert pianist, became more and more aware as to how important
the influence of classical Greek music from ancient times,
had been to the development of modern western and Byzantine
music. Her fascination with the contribution, which the music
of ancient Greece had made to present day music, led her to
a daunting task, a study of Greek music and its influence,
from classical to modern times. How could musicians who worked
and composed thousands of years ago, have exerted such influence
throughout the centuries?
Four
years later she triumphed with the publication in Greece of
a major work - "The History of Hellenic Music From 2000BC
to 2000AD". The book, with over 150 illustrations, was
an immediate success and is now in its fourth reprint. It
is at present available from Agyra Publications and is soon
to be available in an English language edition.
